I did appreciate Dmitri's friend Angel, who had no problem telling him he was a little b***h. My greatest issue was understanding why Dmitri behaved as he did sometimes, and that wasn't completely answered before the ending. I enjoyed the little touches of humorous dialogue as well. There were some editing errors but they weren't excessive. It wasn't hard to follow, just occasionally needing to look back a sentence or two to make sure of the switch. The story focuses on Troy and Dmitri's building relationship with POV switches within the chapters. He's very introverted, socially inept and quite self-centered at times. He wasn't a practicing Veterinarian but worked in a research lab, trying to develop cures for cancer in dogs and other animals. Dmitri was a character that was harder to like. After all, he never even got shot, he just lost some friends that way. Troy's character was great, as a returning veteran and rather typical in his denial of having PTSD. Well, one veteran and one veterinarian, anyway. I hope a new edition will be released : it was atrocious at times :-( Too bad for me, but I know I will try the next book in this series. ”He cried for his lost friends, he cried for lost innocence…”īy the time I got to that point, it was already over.

But it’s only around 70% of the book that all the pieces started to get into place for me and I emphasized a lot for Troy and what he went through.
